On the 30th of April 2019, we organized a media forum with the theme “Reinvigorating Non-Custodial Provisions of the Lagos State Administration of Criminal justice Law 2015” to call on the Lagos State Judiciary to make better use of Non-custodial punishment for minor offenses.
This is as part of measures to address the worsening problem of prison congestion in the state. We noted that though Non- Custodial Punishment options were provided for in the Lagos State Administration of Criminal Justice Law, Lagos state still has the highest number of persons in prisons.
